Ressurrecting HoverTank-3D in 2024

Hello everyone!

I was stumbling through my old DOS archive collected from many, many years of computing, when I found a directory called 'HOVER'. Looking into it, and tossing its START.BAT into Dosbox Staging, I found that I still had my copy of 1991's Hovertank-3D by Softdisk Publishing. THE Prototypical First Person Shooter from the Bad Boys of Id before Id was a thought in their minds.

Installing Morrowind and the Construction Set under Wine in 2023

For years now, as a Linux user, I have been pretty staunchly in the camp of wanting to use OpenMW for all of my Morrowind needs. It is wonderful. But I've also had at least a passing interest in supporting the original engine and its enhancements under linux, if for no other reason than to muck about with the Construction Set. So, today I set out to get a playable copy of Tamriel Rebuilt running under MCP, MGEXE, and MWSE running on a modern linux system.

October 2022 Fundraiser and Musings of a System Engineer

Hi all!

Throughout the month of October 2022, we ran a fundraiser to raise funds for the hosting of the web presence of Tamriel Rebuilt and Project Tamriel. I am extremely pleased to announce that we doubled our stated goal of $1,000.00 USD by bringing in $2,065.72 USD! I am absolutely floored by the outpouring of support for the continuance of the mission of PTR. The Morrowind community is full of superstars, and this is a fantastic example of that!

Who's there? Not a "knock knock" joke, sadly.

Update (2019-06-20)

It's been over a month since this blog post was originally posted. Some things have changed since then and while I'm currently too busy to write a full part II post, some information is important enough to communicate it anyway. So, instead of reading "Who's there? It's me, you idiot!" (which was going to circle back to ManaUser's [MW Modding History] aptly named fix), you are going to see some red text in here.

What's Up with the Hlaalu-Dres Alliance?

I write this as an answer to a startling twist that the story of Morowind's Great Houses took in the canon writings after TES3. This answer leans heavily on TR lore, but I think even without it, it could still stand on its own and put sense to the shakey alliance that Hlaalu and Dres created after Helseth's marriage to a Dres lady.

If You Don't Know about It, It's Easy to Overlook

This will probably turn more into a ramble than a blog. This is in answer to criticisms of why Tamriel Rebuilt has chosen to ignore most of ESO's lore, and an explanation to why some folks still vehemently dislike ESO, from my personal point of view. (Other devs of TR may have different reasons and I do not write this to represent the whole...yadda yadda...)

ESO Lore Overhaul: Stonefalls, Part Two (and a Half)

Why the funny name to this? I posted Part Two without putting much content into it, as work was calling. This finishes out that post, covering the content of Fort Arand and the nearby Emberflint Mine.

For the reasons and rules for this series, see my first blog:

ESO Lore Overhaul: Stonefalls, Part Two

Well, after playing only frm Davon's Watch to Senie in Part One and finding a lore issue in almost every quest, I'm a little leery about jumping back into this, but here I am again! Let's play some ESO! This post covers the quests from Othrenis to Ash Mountain. (I may edit this to include more of the zone at a later date, but my real work calls me.)

Morrowind's Future Part I: A Census of Morrowind's Political Factions

Atrayonis suggested he and I write out our respective (and probably starkly divergent) ideas on the future of Morrowind after the events of TES: III (including TR events of course). I've decided to make a start at that, but will divide my write-up into at least two if not more parts, this being the first.
